The Italian finalists of the famous beauty contest MISS UNIVERSE ITALY 2010, which took place on Thursday evening, July 1st, inside the very superb scenario of “Teatro Antico Greco Romano” at Taormina, wore RITRATTI Beachwear, which has been chosen as the very emblematic brand for representing the Italian excellence worldwide.
Jessica Cecchini will be the one who will represent Italy at the final worldwide round on August 23rd, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Our Italian Miss, from the region of Piedmont, aged 20 years old, with green eyes and brown hair, has beaten the competition of other 27 beauties coming from all over the country.
Established in California in 1952 and owned by Donald J. Trump and NBC, Miss Universe® is one of the most prestigious beauty contests worldwide. Nationally, the event takes place in 90 countries all over the world and is watched by more than a billion televiewers. The international organization connected with Miss Universe® aims at showing off the participants’ talent, while taking care of their image and professional growth. Furthermore, the brand is associated with various social and humanitarian activities, such as the HIV-prevention focussed promoting activities. The Italian edition of the contest started in 2002: in the past, it was the “Miss Italy” in charge that represented our nation at international contests.

RITRATTI for DESSINE L’ESPOIR.
On the occasion of last edition of Salon International de la Lingerie (January 23-25, 2010), the most important lingerie brands did gather to support the association DESSINE L’ESPOIR in favour of Southern Africa’s women affected by the HIV-virus.
The Style Offices of the involved companies, among which RITRATTI too of course, have worked on the theme of “light”, which is so much valued and appreciated by the association, and have produced drawings and sketches which inspired the women to develop really unusual lamps and lampshades.
We are talking about a work which offers them the opportunity for both their social reintegration and the expression of their most intimate creativity. The accomplished works were displayed in a special SIL-dedicated area and as from November 2010 will be sold in Paris by BHV.
For each single piece sold, 8 euro will be given to the Association to financially support the next projects on site.
Consistently with the idea of the 2010-2011 Fall/Winter collection, the RITRATTI motif was related to dance and theatre.

RITRATTI is taking the spotlight at the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris (January 23-25, Porte de Versailles).

Among more than 300 lingerie brands presenting their 2010-2011 fall/winter collections, RITRATTI has taken the spotlight as one of the most interesting brands and definitely has been referred to as a benchmark in terms of both the quality proposed and the novelties showcased, such as the presentation of the new Sensation 2.0 project, resulting from the collaboration with Invista and introducing RITRATTI as the first-ever brand all over continental Europe for designing and distributing this cutting-edge all-year-round collection project.
But the most significant result consists in the unanimous appreciation by the most important international buyers in regard to the 2010-2011 Fall/Winter collection. A totally unexpected success, especially in the light of the unstable and turbulent economic situation as well as the very uncertain economic climate: a reward therefore to the extraordinary efforts for the constantly encouraging and fostering activity of the company as well as the full-spectrum investments made by them at this critical historical point in time.

Congratulations to the italian "butterflies" from friend's of RITRATTI
Double gold for the girls in blue at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships. And a silver medal too.
Following its victory in the all-around competition, Italy climbs to the top of the podium also in the three ribbons and two ropes speciality, ahead of Belarus and Russia. Second place in the five hoops.
MIE (Japan) – The Italian national rhythmic gymnastics team has just clinched a gold and a silver medal at the World Championships in Mie, Japan. After the gold obtained yesterday in the all-around competition, the girls in blue repeated their superb performance to gain victory also in the three ribbons and two ropes exercise, won with a score of 26,650. Second place went to Belarus (26,600), third to Russia (26,300). The silver came later in the five hoops exercise, which saw Italy finish in second place with a score of 27,250 points, just behind gold medallists Russia with 27,700, and ahead of Belarus, which took home the bronze with 26,300 points.
Italian gymnastics thus brings its all-time total of world championship titles up to four: prior to the two golds won in Mie, the blue team had clinched a gold in Baku 2006 in the three hoops and four clubs exercise, and another in the all-around competition in Madrid, way back in 1975.

The inspiration for the S/S 2010 Ritratti Milano collection comes from the desire to accompany a woman through every moment of her day.
Soft, flowing lines envelop the body from the early morning hours. Like a second skin, the garments become one with the person to outline her style and uniqueness.
Different colours and fabrics merge to mark the time of day: dynamic daily atmospheres, colourful shades at sunset and unfailing light touches at night.
And for the temptresses, there are little veils and transparencies to whet the appetite and to keep on daydreaming!

RITRATTI will be on Capital, one of the TV news magazines most watched in France, in a feature on swimswear.

RITRATTI Beachwear brings the seaside to Como. A striking fashion show at Villa Geno.
The prestigious scenery of Villa Geno was the backdrop to the Madeincomo by Night fashion evening on 5th June. The stalls that followed the RITRATTI Beachwear 2009 Collection fashion show were crowded with people, and included many celebrities. To the music of Incognito, shapes, designs and lifestyles passed by along with the beach proposals for the summer: all with uniqueness in common. Elegant one-pieces, diamond points of light, patterns of multicoloured feathers alternated with trendy bikinis with a cut for every woman. A Grand Finale in red with ten seductive models on the catwalk.

Alberto Messina: the new face of international fashion.
1. As a young designer you had already won various awards in international competitions including the MarediModa Beachwear Award for the creation of a swimwear range. What do you take your inspiration from in designing swimwear and lingerie? The inspiration comes from many sources that are re-elaborated and re-mixed and that in the end assume a new shape. It is as if designers are unable to perceive that which they see and feel in a sterile manner, expressing a judgement alone. For example, when I watch a film, listen to a CD, read a book or visit an exhibition I cannot consider what is in front of me to be the finished product. I feel the need to interact, rework and re-mix it all. My mind forces me to extract and enter new information, based on my perceptions and experiences. This is followed by a more critical and pragmatic idea phase focused on realism and the real possibility of achieving the collection in question, taking into account the technical aspects of the fabric, the human body and the social context in which we live.
2. How do you research and suggest new trends? I aim to have the most wide-ranging vision possible, largely based on instinct. It is true that often trends are not created by a designer, but from the street. But it is also true that the street is made up of people and the contribution that they bring to an idea. For example, I recently attended the Vintage fair in Forlì with a friend. It was really abuzz with information and ideas. I was attracted by and bought a corset from the mid 1960s. As soon as I got home I saw it on the mannequin and was reminded of a fabric that I’d bought about six months earlier (you should know that I'm a bit of a fabric fanatic, I have bought enough on my travels to fill a room). I was happy with the look and if I have the chance, I'll turn it into a collection. We’ll see.
3. How do you think we should select an item of lingerie? Each of us is a universe unto ourselves. There are no hard and fast rules to follow. It is important to choose an item not only based on our body shape, but above all on what we wish to express. I think that it’s possible to be freer in the choice of lingerie, as the item is personal, to be shared with your partner.

A great success for Immagine Italia & Co.

More than 13,500 people visited the Immagine Italia & Co. trade fair held in Florence from 5 to 8 February. Among the exhibitors in the Lingerie section, Ritratti presented its collections from the Milano line, supporting the trade fair’s mission: proving our excellence by constructing a platform that is the perfect place for Italian brands to fully express themselves in the best way possible. 20 exhibiting companies from the underwear-lingerie sector staged a fashion show. Ideas, materials and craftsmanship on two catwalks from 20 of the best-known companies in an increasingly competitive market.

RITRATTI to Star!
On February 6 the eleventh “Le Stelle dell’Intimo” competition was held, devised by Pisani Editore and organised by Linea Intima. The incredible setting for the exclusive gala evening was the beautiful Basilica di Fortezza da Basso in Florence.
RITRATTI, one of the members of the jury composed of 24 of the best Italian companies in the sector, helped select the best lingerie and swimwear boutiques, and those that offer a mix of lingerie/swimwear/prêt-à-porter from around Italy.

Paris gives awards to Italian lingerie: RITRATTI is winner.
Italian lingerie snapped up a multitude of awards on the runway of the Paris Salon International de la Lingerie. The theme was “deliciousness” as one-of-a-kind fashions were modeled on the runway interpreting the purity of whipped cream, the creaminess of chocolate and the sweetness of candy. RITRATTI was recognized for the originality of its materials, winning the Ultra Lingerie Prix Matière. The awards are a significant honour from a distinguished jury that included Nelly Rodi (Nelly Rodi), Edith Keller (Carlin International), Guy Martin (star chef of Le Grand Véfour Restaurant), Mathilde Bill (Cosmopolitan) and Marie-Christine Delacroix (Madame Figaro). RITRATTI, which shared the honour with Italian textile designers Eurostick and Boselli, and with British company Junior Hagen, commented on its success. “We are greatly honoured,” said Paolo Parietti, business director of Delmar, which produces the Ritratti brand, “because the Prix Matière makes awards based on fabric, the use of shape to achieve a flawless fit, cut and proportion. This style, which was inspired by the image of a chocolate fountain, features shades of brown, original openings on the front and back, a racerback and a thousand tiny details. This item must be seen close-up to appreciate its workmanship.” And, in fact, a closer look reveals a combination of sheer fabric, tulle, velvet trim, feathers and an exotic edge. Special thanks to the entire company and particularly to Sara Lanciani, the designer who accepted the award in Paris, and Isabella Casartelli, the pattern-cutter who contributed to the creation of the garment.

RITRATTI Milan. New collection in the spotlight.
On January 10 there was a photo shoot for the new RITRATTI Milano collection. The photographer, Andrew Soule, chose an austere, almost neutral atmosphere to highlight the details, the elegance and the delicate tones of the new lingerie line inspired by projecting the past into our own times. The captivating face of Brazilian model Natalia Andrade (Agenzia Fashion) returns. The stylist was Guia Rossi.

MarediModa Beachwear Award. Italian style wins.
The 5th edition of the MarediModa Beachwear Award 2008, organized in collaboration with Mittelmoda International Lab, took place on 27th November in Cannes, as part of the trade fair of the same name. The audience and the jury awarded the prize to Bolognese designer Alberto Messina, who won his third international prize of the year. As a member of the technical jury, Francesco Macchi (MD of Delmar SpA) expressed great admiration for the way Messina blends overlapping fabrics, mesh and cut into his beachwear.
